Chinese artists exhibit their artworks at National Library of Cuba

(KPL/Prensa Latina)  The exhibition “Cultural Bridges: East-West Dialogue” will open on Thursday, at 4:00 pm, local time, at The Kingdom of this World gallery, in the José Martí National Library, in Havana.

Under the motto “Art is light and brings peace,” the exhibition consists of 31 artworks by Chinese artists Ma Liang, Zhang Lanpo, Shen Zhonghai and Guo Liweim, and was curated by specialists Miguel Sazatornil and Sun Yong Kang.

The exhibition is part of the 15th edition of the Havana Biennial, which runs from November 15, 2024, to February 28, as one of the most important cultural events in the Cuban capital, due to its appeal of turning the city into a great art gallery.

As part of celebrations of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China, the exhibition is sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Havana, the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the National Council of Plastic Arts, and the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, among other cultural institutions.

An exhibition of lamps was also inaugurated on February 13 in the gardens of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, as part of the traditional Lantern Festival and to celebrate the first Chinese New Year after that artistic expression inscription by UNESCO on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

At the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba Hua Xan highlighted the strength of relations between China and Cuba and referred to the significance of this exhibition of his country’s traditions in the Caribbean island.

The interim president of the Council of Plastic Arts of Cuba, Yaneisy García, noted the high level of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and cultural spheres.
