Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Ambassadors of Friendly Countries to Laos

KPL On January 13, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane received courtesy visits from Cambodian Ambassador Hulkrang Phanang, Myanmar Ambassador Aung Ko, and Singaporean Ambassador Sudesh Maniar.

(KPL) On January 13, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane received here in Vientiane courtesy visits from Cambodian Ambassador Hulkrang Phanang, Myanmar Ambassador Aung Ko, and Singaporean Ambassador Sudesh Maniar.

During the meetings, Minister Thongsavanh warmly welcomed the ambassadors, expressing his enthusiasm to work closely with them in the years ahead.

He emphasized the importance of their collaboration in promoting and strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Laos and their respective countries. 

The minister highlighted the significance of fostering high-level exchanges and enhancing interactions between the peoples of Laos and their respective countries. He stressed the need to expand cooperation in key areas, including economics, trade, investment, and other sectors of mutual interest.

He also encouraged the continued implementation of agreements signed by senior leaders of Laos and the three countries to ensure tangible outcomes. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of mutual assistance and support in regional and international forums.

Minister Thongsavanh invited the ambassadors to visit various provinces in Laos to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, tourism, among others. 

On this occasion, the minister expressed his gratitude to the governments of Cambodia, Myanmar, and Singapore for their support during Laos’ tenure as ASEAN Chair in 2024. He also expressed hope for continued collaboration and further assistance from the three countries in the future.

In response, the ambassadors thanked Minister Thongsavanh for the warm reception and congratulated him on his appointment as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

They affirmed their commitment to serving as vital bridges to foster and expand cooperation between their countries and Laos.

The ambassadors emphasized their dedication to ensuring that these partnerships bring tangible benefits to the peoples of Laos and their respective nations.

The Lao PDR established diplomatic relations with Cambodia on June 15, 1956; Myanmar on July 12, 1955; and Singapore on December 2, 1974.
