Provinces across Laos have held various activities to celebrate the 104th birth anniversary of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane (Dec 13, 1920 – 2024).
In Vientiane, a ceremony took place early this morning, led by Anouphab Tounalom, President of the People’s Council of Vientiane. Leaders laid a floral basket in front of the statue of President Kaysone Phomvihane to pay tribute to the revered leader on this significant occasion.
In Saravan Province, a community walk was organized to commemorate the event, which also aimed to welcome the 7th National Secondary Student Games hosted by the province.

In Vientiane, a ceremony took place early this morning, led by Anouphab Tounalom, President of the People’s Council of Vientiane. Leaders laid a floral basket in front of the statue of President Kaysone Phomvihane to pay tribute to the revered leader on this significant occasion.
In Saravan Province, a community walk was organized to commemorate the event, which also aimed to welcome the 7th National Secondary Student Games hosted by the province.
In Savannakhet, provincial leaders, led by Governor Bounchome Oubonpaseuth, paid respects by laying a floral basket in front of President Kaysone’s statue. The ceremony was attended by representatives from various authorities, civil servants, and mass organizations.
Khammuane Province also joined the nationwide celebration. Governor Vanxay Phongsavanh, accompanied by provincial leaders, laid wreaths and floral baskets at key monuments, including the Monument of the Unknown Soldiers, the Monument of President Kaysone Phomvihane, and the Monument of President Souphanouvong. This event also marked the 49th anniversary of National Day (Dec 2, 1975 – 2024).
Meanwhile, in Phongsaly Province, Governor Khamphoy Vannasane and other provincial leaders led a tribute by laying flowers at the statue of President Kaysone Phomvihane.
For over five decades, President Kaysone Phomvihane dedicated his mental and physical capabilities to the cause of national liberation, protection, and development. He successfully guided the Lao revolutionary movement from victory to victory, freeing the country from foreign colonial rule and transforming Laos into an independent nation with a respected place on the global stage.
President Kaysone’s legacy reflects his remarkable role as a beloved son of all ethnic groups in Laos, a brilliant strategist, and a shining example of leadership. His extraordinary contributions have become a symbol of unity, harmony, and peace among people of all ethnicities, religions, and generations, as well as peace-loving nations worldwide.
