(KPL) In response to the invitation of Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, paid an official visit to the Lao PDR to participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting from July 24-28.
(KPL) In response to the invitation of Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, paid an official visit to the Lao PDR to participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting from July 24-28.
The visit aimed to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Laos and China.
Both sides appreciated their long-standing friendship and stable strategic partnership, known as the "Four-Good" Laos-China, China-Laos strategic partnership. The official meeting, held on July 25 in Vientiane, was co-chaired by Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
The two sides reviewed their partnerships and discussed future plans to enhance their relationship and cooperation. They focused on implementing the "Master Plan on the Creation of Laos-China, China-Laos Partnership" for 2024-2028.
They agreed to establish a dialogue mechanism for economic diplomatic cooperation, address macroeconomic issues, and promote trade and tourism cooperation. Additionally, they exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Mr. Saleumxay and Mr. Wang Yi participated as witnesses in the signing ceremony of three joint documents between the Government of the Lao PDR and the Government of China: a handover note for a grant project to upgrade Luang Prabang Provincial Hospital; an exchange note on a grant project to upgrade a secondary school in Savannakhet; and a note on the handover of vehicles and equipment for the 5th Lao National Population and Housing Census 2025.
On the same day, Mr. Wang Yi and his delegation paid a courtesy call to Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, and attended a welcome party organized by Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith.
