(KPL) Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Linkham Duangsavanh has presented a new draft Law on Cooperatives to the ongoing 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly for its consideration of approval.

At the meeting, lawmakers shared comments on how the law can benefit domestic farmers in different aspects.

“The reason behind making this Law on Cooperatives is that in the past activities have been carried out individually. There’re disputes around goods production. There’re no monitoring, inspection, management. So it is necessary to have a clear reference to expand the market to overseas, in line with the socio-economic development in the new era,” said MrLinkham

“Once approved, it will become a fundamental tool for helping monitor, manage and inspect the activities of cooperatives, ensure people have sustainable jobs. It will be used as a reference for local authorities, and promote foreign investment, help farmers access financial loans, improve people’s living conditions, poverty reduction, and contribute to the national socio-economic development,” Linkham told the meeting today.
