(KPL)The Ministry of National Defense held a photo exhibition on the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7, 1954-May 7, 2024) on May 6 in Vientiane.

The event was attended by Vice President Pany Yathortou, Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr Vongkham Phommakone, Ambassador of the Republic of Vietnam to Laos Mr Nguyen Ba Hung, and relevant officials.

Mr Vongkham said at the opening ceremony that looking back 70 years ago (May 7, 1954), which was the day of the famous historical victory of Dien Bien Phu against the old imperialism of the Vietnamese army and people, the victory of Dien Bien Phu is not only recorded in the history of the Vietnamese nation in the 20th century, but it also has the meaning and importance of world history that the people of the world and the people of Laos have never forgotten Vietnam based on the spirit of "shared food together". With the spirit of solidarity of the people and the Lao and Vietnamese armies, and continued to be the traditional for the historic victory of the two Lao-Vietnamese nations: the "Ho Chi Minh" strategic battle to liberate and reunify the nation in 1975 and create a once-in-a-thousand-year opportunity for the Lao revolution and the Lao people to sieze the power and then the Lao People's Democratic Republic was established in 1975.

The opening of the Dien Bien Phu victory photo exhibition is a review of the received-victory of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam with President Ho Chi Minh as the founder and leader of the struggle for independence, freedom and happiness of the people, It is to enhance the special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation between the two nations - the two armies of Laos - Vietnam in the mission on protection and the development of the nation, as well as the construction of a stable and strong socialist regime.
