(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone paid a guidance visit to Champassak Province On April 5.

It was the premier’s third stop on his trip to southern Laos following Attapeu and Xekong on Apr 3 and 4 respectively.

The premier was welcomed by Governor of Champassak Province Mr Vilayvong Boutdakham, other high-ranking officials and representatives of relevant authorities in the province.

Giving guidance talks to the leaders of the province at the provincial office, Prime Minister highlighted the achievements in the socio-economic development of the country, including the recent approval of new policies and laws.

He urged the provincial authorities to pay attention to contemplating on possible construction of new strategic roads to link the province with other economic hubs, the development of electricity from alternative sources and work with relevant authorities to open additional flight routes to promote investment and tourism in the province.

He urged more attention to be paid to the management and protection of forests, and to the supervision of the prices of priority goods that likely to affect the livelihoods of local people and make sure imports and exports are settled through banking system.

The local leaders were asked to pay attention to promoting the use of domestic products and thrifty lifestyles.

He also asked the provincial leaders to find decisive solutions to the investment projects that have been suspended and proved to be ineffective.

The prime minister also officiated the opening of the city pillar of Pakse City and visited the Fine Arts School in Bachiengchaleunsouk district and vegetable farms of Lao Farm Co., Ltd in Pakxong district.
