(KPL/Prensa Latina) A significant meeting that links cigars with Asia, began today (with four days of sessions) in the halls of the Habana Libre Tryp Hotel.

The II Habanos Asia-Havana 2023 Encounter started at the Capablanca Bar of the centrally located island hotel, and its opening featured a performance or presentation called Body Art, by Cuban costume designer Jose Luis Gonzalez.

The bar’s director, Elina Pérez, said the event is organized by Empresa Comercial Caracol S.A. and Casa de Habanos del Habana Libre, aimed at the Asian market, mainly Chinese.

This event gathers Cuban cigar and rum lovers from China but also attracts for four days smokers from the United States, Mexico and Türkiye, who will be on the island until next Friday to enjoy the country’s tourist attractions.

The program, among other activities, includes a visit to the plantations in the western province of Pinar del Rio, and the El Laguito cigar factory, considered the most emblematic in the world because it is where Cohiba cigars are made.

The main purpose of the Asia-Havana Encounter is to consolidate the positioning of this Casa del Habano and strengthen the image of Caracol S.A. stores as the preferred ones by tourists, based on the recognition of the international standards of the product they offer, mainly Premium Cuban cigars.
