United Russia Party Chairman visits Laos

KPL (KPL) Chairperson of United Russia Party cum Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev met with Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith in Vientiane on May 23.

(KPL) Chairperson of United Russia Party cum Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev met with Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith in Vientiane on May 23.

At the bilateral meeting, President Thongloun highly valued the Russian leader’s visit as a significant contribution to enhancing the relations between two Parties, states and peoples of Laos and Russia.

He also informed the Russian guest about the socio-economic development in Laos, especially the implementation of the 11th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the 9th five-year National Socio-economic development plan.

The two Party leaders also exchanged points of view on regional and international issues of common interest.  

The visiting Russian Party leader expressed thanks to President Thongloun and other senior leaders of the Lao PDR for their warm welcome.

He spoke highly of the achievements the Lao PDR has made under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and expressed his confidence that the Lao people will record new achievements in their national protection and development cause and make the country strong, prosperous, harmonious, just, democratic and civilised. 

Mr Dmitry Medvedev and his delegation also met with Ministers of National Defence and Public Security. Both sides also signed cooperation agreements on Party work and education.

The Russian leader and his delegation also visited Kaysone Phomvihane Museum and Federation of Soviet Military Pilot Monument in Vientiane.
