Also speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Pany said she was pleased and honoured to receive such a high award from the government of the Russian Federation as well as from President Vladimir Putin.

“This award honours not only myself but also the Lao National Assembly, Lao government and Lao people for all our contributions to strengthening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between our two countries, Laos and Russia,” she said.

As President of the National Assembly, Ms Pany visited Russia in 2013, and with Speaker of the Federal Council of Russia, Ms Valentina Matvienko, attended the 35th Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly's General Assembly in Vientiane in 2014.
