Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Deputy Minister of Defence, presented the amended draft law during the ongoing second ordinary session of the 10th National Assembly on October 13.
The draft comprises eight parts, nine chapters and 59 articles, setting out principles, regulations and measures governing the organisation and operation of the Lao People’s Army Forces.
The proposed amendments seek to improve the legal framework governing the armed forces, address operational challenges and strengthen political, procedural, disciplinary and technical capabilities.
During the session, lawmakers discussed the proposed changes, examining the reasons for the amendments and identifying areas requiring further improvement.
The revised law is also intended to ensure that the Lao People’s Army Forces operates in accordance with the Constitution, relevant legislation and the national socio-economic development plan, while supporting the country’s regional and international integration.
