President of Cuba Arrives in Vientiane

KPL In the evening of September 6, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, together with a high-level delegation, arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane for an official state visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from September 6–7, 2025.

(KPL) In the evening of September 6, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, together with a high-level delegation, arrived at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane for an official state visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from September 6–7, 2025.

The Cuban President and his delegation were warmly and ceremoniously welcomed by Comrade Khemmani Pholsena, Head of the Presidential Office, along with representatives from relevant Lao sectors.

This state visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary-General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR, with the aim of further strengthening and expanding the traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation between Laos and Cuba.

During the visit, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez will hold talks with senior Lao leaders, including bilateral meetings with Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary-General and President of the Lao PDR, and Comrade Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR. He will also receive a courtesy call from Comrade Chaleun Yiapaoheu, Vice President of the National Assembly and President of the Laos–Cuba Friendship Association.

In addition, the Cuban leader is scheduled to visit several important historical and cultural sites in Laos.
