National Assembly President Calls on Sikhottabong District to Expand Production and Develop New Revenue Sources

KPL President of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane urged Sikhottabong District in Vientiane Capital to strengthen production, identify new sources of revenue, and accelerate local economic development while addressing key social challenges.


Speaking during a meeting on June 10 to disseminate the outcomes of the inaugural session of the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Vientiane Capital People’s Council, the National Assembly President emphasized the need for district authorities to strengthen political and ideological leadership, mobilize local potential, and encourage productive economic activities that can generate sustainable income for both communities and the district.
He called for stronger efforts to tackle budget leakages, drug-related crimes, theft, online fraud, and other social problems, while enhancing national defense and public security to maintain stability and public order.
Mr. Saysomphone also urged local authorities to promote modern agricultural and livestock production that meets quality standards and can supply hotels, restaurants, and markets across Vientiane Capital. He highlighted the importance of expanding community-based economic models, strengthening human resource development, and creating employment opportunities through vocational training and skills development.


The National Assembly President further stressed the need to foster patriotism, social responsibility, respect for the law, and community solidarity, particularly among younger generations. He also called for continued improvements in healthcare services through the upgrading of district hospitals and local health centers, as well as investment in education infrastructure, including the construction and rehabilitation of schools.
During the visit, Mr. Saysomphone provided essential relief supplies and equipment to families affected by recent hailstorms. He expressed sympathy to affected households and commended local authorities and residents for their solidarity and mutual support in helping communities recover from the disaster.
