Vientiane Mayor Pledges to Bring Spirit of XII Party Congress into Action

KPL On January 7, 2026, in Vientiane Capital, On the occasion of attending the XII National Congress of Delegates of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Party Secretary, and Mayor of Vientiane Capital, affirmed his strong commitment to translating the spirit and resolutions of the Congress into concrete and effective results.

(KPL) On January 7, 2026, in Vientiane Capital, On the occasion of attending the XII National Congress of Delegates of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Party Secretary, and Mayor of Vientiane Capital, affirmed his strong commitment to translating the spirit and resolutions of the Congress into concrete and effective results.

Highlighting Vientiane Capital’s role as the political, economic, and cultural heart of the nation, the Mayor stated that the city will actively implement the content and spirit of the Congress across all sectors. In the economic field, priority will be given to building a strong, independent, and self-reliant economy, with a target of achieving GDP growth of 8 percent or higher. In parallel, efforts will focus on developing modern and dynamic urban infrastructure, promoting tourism, trade and investment, and preserving the fine cultural traditions of the Lao nation for future generations.

On behalf of more than 25,000 Party members across Vientiane Capital, Atsaphangthong Siphandone expressed full confidence in the goals and development directions set by the Congress, describing them as a guiding compass for national development in the new era.

He emphasized that the XII Party Congress is a historically significant event, serving to review and evaluate the implementation of the socio-economic development plan over the past five years, while also charting a clear path forward. The Congress adopted four key documents, including the Political Report, the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026–2030), and amendments to the Party Statutes, which will provide a solid foundation for continued progress.

The Mayor further called on all Party members, civil servants, soldiers, police officers, and the people of Vientiane Capital to strengthen unity and responsibility, actively participate in implementing the resolutions of the XII Party Congress, and work together to build Vientiane Capital into a livable and sustainably developing city.
