(KPL/VNA)The investment cooperation project developing Terminals 1, 2 and 3 at Vung Ang Port, with Terminal 3 recently inaugurated, stands as a vivid testament to the Vietnamese Party, Government and people's policy of supporting Laos to gain access to the sea.

So said Vietnam’s Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh and Laos’ Minister of Public Works and Transport Leklay Sivilay during a working session in Vientiane on December 2.

Minh proposed that building on the success of the Vung Ang Port cooperation project, Laos should further develop an integrated transport system, giving priority to road connections to Vietnam’s central coastal ports, including Vung Ang.

Strengthening these links, he said, will help create new economic momentum and expand Laos’ ability to transport goods to regional and global markets.

At the meeting, the two ministers also reviewed progress on other key transport infrastructure projects linking the two countries, including the Hanoi – Vientiane expressway and the Vung Ang – Vientiane railway.

The Vietnamese official was accompaying Party General Secretary To Lam, who paid a state visit to Laos, attended the ceremony marking the 50th National Day of Laos, and co-chaired the annual meeting between the two Politburos, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who was in the country to co-chair the 48th meeting of the Vietnam – Laos Inter-governmental Committee.
