(KPL/Prensa Latina) There are good opportunities to increase supplies of Russian coal and its processed products to China to more than 100 million tons annually, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday.
“Russia is one of the world’s leading coal producers and suppliers, and China is the largest consumer. In this context, we see prospects for increasing supplies of coal and its processed products to the Asian country,” Novak affirmed during his address at the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum.
The deputy prime minister emphasized that both countries “are developing cooperation in the area of supplying equipment and services for the oil and gas sector.”
He also indicated that Russia is discussing with its Chinese partners the possibilities of expanding oil exports.
He noted that in terms of supply volume, Russia holds a leading position among oil suppliers to China, with more than 20 percent of the Chinese market.
Novak stated that the major Chinese companies are partners in Russia’s largest natural gas liquefaction projects in the Arctic.
