KPL The Governments of the Lao People’s Democratic and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste have officially brought into force an Agreement on Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders, aimed at promoting and facilitating travel between the two nations.

The agreement was originally signed on October 8, 2024, in Vientiane and took effect on August 15, 2025.

Under the agreement, citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports are exempted from visa requirements when traveling to the other country for tourism purposes for a stay not exceeding 30 days.

For tourism stays longer than 30 days, travelers must apply for tourist visas and may extend their stay in line with the host country’s laws and regulations.

Officials from both sides affirmed that the agreement will enhance people-to-people exchanges, strengthen friendship, and expand cooperation between Laos and Timor-Leste.
