ICT Minister Receives EU Ambassador Mark Gallagher

KPL Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Ms. Suansavanh Viyaket, welcomed Mr. Mark Gallagher, the European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Lao PDR, to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) and the EU in Laos.

(KPL) Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Ms. Suansavanh Viyaket, welcomed Mr. Mark Gallagher, the European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Lao PDR, to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) and the EU in Laos.

During the meeting, Ms. Suansavanh expressed her warm welcome and deep appreciation for Ambassador Gallagher’s visit. She highlighted the strong friendship and productive cooperation between the Lao PDR and the EU since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Minister also acknowledged the EU’s valuable support in various sectors, particularly in information, culture, and tourism. This assistance has included organizing arts and cultural activities, supporting media initiatives, and promoting heritage and tourism development. These efforts have significantly contributed to the growth of the information, culture, and tourism sectors in Laos, fostering both economic and social development and improving the living standards of the Lao people across all ethnic groups.

Minister Suansavanh expressed her confidence that the partnership between Laos and the EU, as well as between the MoICT and the EU, will continue to strengthen. She emphasized her commitment to working closely with Ambassador Gallagher to advance EU-funded projects, paving the way for a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.

In response, Ambassador Mark Gallagher thanked Ms. Suansavanh for her warm reception and reaffirmed the EU’s dedication to enhancing collaboration with Laos and the MoICT. He expressed his confidence that the partnership would continue to grow and flourish. The Ambassador also commended the Lao PDR for its successful chairmanship of ASEAN and praised the Ministry’s achievements in implementing its various initiatives.
