KPL Journalists, media leaders and scholars from Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Russia gathered in Beijing on June 5 for the Global Journalists Salon, a forum exploring the role of media in fostering dialogue among civilizations and promoting mutual understanding in an increasingly interconnected world.

Held at the Communication University of China (CUC), the event was organized under the theme "The Media Mission Under the Global Civilization Initiative" and coincided with the United Nations International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations.

Participants discussed how journalism can help bridge cultural and geopolitical divides, combat misinformation, and contribute to global peace and development through objective and responsible reporting.

In his opening remarks, Ren Mengshan, Vice President of CUC, emphasized the importance of media as a bridge for dialogue, a platform for building consensus on global challenges, and a guardian of truth and professional ethics in the digital age.

The forum highlighted the significance of promoting mutual respect among civilizations and strengthening international exchanges through media cooperation. Participants agreed that journalists should uphold truth, present balanced reporting, and encourage greater understanding among different cultures and societies.

During panel discussions, media representatives and experts exchanged views on the challenges facing journalism in the era of rapid technological change, misinformation and growing global polarization. They also called for stronger international media networks, expanded cross-border reporting and greater support for young journalists.

The forum concluded with a shared commitment to promoting dialogue, cultural exchange and responsible journalism as tools for building a more peaceful and inclusive global community.
