Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh has phone talks with Thai Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha in Vientiane on Apr 8, 2021
(KPL) Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh on Apr 8 held phone talks with his Thai counterpart Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha to strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation between Laos and Thailand.
During talks, Prime Minister Phankham expressed sincere thanks to his Thai counterpart for extending to him warm congratulations upon his assumption to the post and expressed gratitude to the government of Thailand upon its support of human resource development in the Lao PDR through providing long-term and short-term scholarships especially in the priority areas of education and sports, agriculture, and health.
Prime Minister Phankham congratulated efforts made by the Thai government in combating the Covid-19 pandemic and expressed gratitude to its support of anti-Covid-19 efforts in the Lao PDR as well as its provision of assistance to Lao workers in Thailand. The premier expressed his hope that the Thai government will continue to provide assistance to the Lao workers so that they can contribute to economic development in Thailand.
The two leaders spoke highly of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and highly valued the traditional relations and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples which have been increasingly enhanced in new constructive atmosphere and cooperation mechanisms at central and provincial levels have been implemented on a regular and fruitful basis.
The leaders noted several achievements in cooperation for development between the two countries with several projects gaining significant progress.
They reaffirmed the strengthening of the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
They also exchanged points of view on regional and international issues of common interest.
The Thai Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Mr Phankham Viphavanh upon his appointment to the premier post at the first meeting of the National Assembly’s 9th legislature held between Mar 22-26 and expressed his belief that under the leadership of Mr Phankham Viphavanh, people of the Lao PDR will continue to record greater economic growth.
