(KPL) Vice President of Lao-China Highway Development Partnership Co., Ltd has urged the users of Vientiane-Vangvieng Highway to use the road cautiously, and strictly comply with traffic rules as well as those imposed by the highway.
“The Vientiane-Vangvieng Highway is the first highway of the Lao PDR. It is 111 km long and is a project of strategic importance representing the incorporation of Laos’ strategy of turning itself as a landlocked country into a landlinked country” in China’s “Belt and Road Initiative,” said Ma Hong Wang, whose post was mentioned above.
Launched in December 2020, the Vientiane-Vangvieng Highway is used by a large number of vehicle users everyday as it provides drivers with a shortcut of 111 km to reach Vangvieng from Vientiane. As a result drivers can spend slightly over one hour to reach Vangvieng compared to three and half hours when using traditional Road 13 North.
“Over the past weeks, some drivers failed to comply with public road rules as well as the rules of our company when using the highway and this resulted in accidents as some of them drove faster than speed limits, didn’t wear seatbelts, drove when drunk,” said Mr Wang.
Journalists met with representatives of Lao-China Highway Development Partnership Co., Ltd to discuss information and regulations related to the Vientiane-Vangvieng Highway in Vientiane on Apr 8.
