
city pillar shrine in Vientiane Capital
(KPL) Xayaboury province has spent LAK 8 billion to build its city pillar shrine on an area of 1.5 ha in Xayaboury district.
The construction project is expected to be completed in 2019. The project is funded with the budget of the provincial administration and financial contributions from local people, business community and authorities in the province.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held on Mar 20, attended by Mr. Chansy Phosikham, Chairman of the Party Central Office of Personnel and Organisation, Xayaboury Governor Phongsavanh Sithavong, representatives of relevant authorities and local people.
The construction project was started early this month. The shrine will be inscribed and decorated with patterns that represent livelihood of local people, and images of elephants that are symbol of Xayaboury Province.
“This construction project will help contribute to the socio-economic development in the province. And the shrine will be a place for young generation to learn about the fine culture of the nation,” said Director of Xayaboury Provincial Department of Information, Culture and Tourism Chanthy Simanychanh.
