
(KPL) A total of 20 Lao fellows have successfully completed 2-year courses of master degree in Japan under the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS).
They returned to Lao P.D.R between July and October 2017.
They are the 16th batch graduates from International University of Japan (IUJ), Yamakuchi University, Kobe University, Kyushu University, Hiroshima University, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) and International Cristian University (ICU).
Each of them had been studying in the fields of study corresponding to and dealing with selected priority issues for the social and economic development in the Lao PDR.
As the wrap-up activity of JDS Project covering their academic year, Report Meeting was held on Mar 19 at Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The meeting intended to promote the master thesis and knowledge acquired from Japanese universities, as well as their experiences gained during their stay in Japan.
The guests attending this meeting were representatives from JDS Operating Committee, which consisted of both government sectors such as Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Central Committee for Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Home Affairs, Embassy of Japan and JICA Laos Office.
They congratulated the fellows on their completion of study and encouraged them to contribute to the development of the country through their Ministries/Workplaces.
JDS Project in the Lao PDR started in 1999 with assistance from the government of Japan. This project aims to support human resources development of the Lao PDR targeting highly capable and young government officials who are expected to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development plans.
Up to date, a total of 374 fellows have been sent to Japan and 334 fellows have already completed their respective degrees and returned to Laos. For this year, 20 new fellows will be sent to Japan in this August as 19th batch.
