
(KPL) Last year, Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Clearance and Destroy Committee for Laos-China Railway Construction Project destroyed almost 130 UXOs along railway from Botene border to Vientiane Capital.
The UXOs and 211,560 exploded items and scraps are scattered on a total area of 1,026 hectares that needed to remove and destroy, according to an annual meeting of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Clearance and Destroy Committee held in Luang Prabang Province on 13 February.
Major Gen Khamlieng Outhakaysone, Deputy General Director of General Military under Ministry of National Defence said that the meeting aims to pass last year report of UXO Clearance and Destroy Committee to ensure all-round safety for Laos-China construction project.
The committee set up a UXO clearance mobile team to destroy UXO in the fields for emergency as continue a plan of UXO clearance contractor companies to inspect and clear UXO out of 1,798 hectares along construction areas this year.
