
(KPL) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare Feb 5 sent on 26 workers who have been trained on Korean language and labour skills for employment oportunities in the Republic of Korea.
They will work in the industrial sector for three years.
Other nine workers will leave Laos on Feb 19 for employment oportunities in the Republic of Korea.
A memorandum of understanding on sending Lao workers with desired labour skills to the Republic of Korea was signed by relevant sectors of the two countries on Sep 9, 2016 in Vientiane.
One month later, the Employment Service Centre, representing the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, signed in Vientiane an agreement on sending Lao workers to the Republic of Korea.
Relevant authorities of the two countries have worked together preparing basic facilities and providing technical training to relevant officials.
Since late 2016, 67 Lao nationals have passed labour skills and korean language tests for employment in R. Korea. Among these, 35 have signed employment contracts with Korean employers.
