(KPL) A variety of Lao cuisines across the nation are being featured and put on sale at the 13th Lao Food Festival which was officially opened at Chao Anouvong Park in Vientiane Capital on Jan 24.
“The festival aims to bring attention to Lao cuisines, and showcase some of the little-known dishes that are very common in provinces across the country,” President of Lao Women’s Business Association, Mrs Chanthachone Vongxay told the opening ceremony on Jan 24.
The Lao food festival this year is being held under the theme “Best Lao Dishes for Visit Laos Year 2018”.
“The festival is an effort to preserve Lao traditional cuisines and fine culture as a symbol of Laos and make them known to visitors from ASEAN member countries as well as all parts of the world,” said Mrs Chanthachone.
The festival also provides an opportunity for local entrepreneurs and investors in Laos to bring their products to display and for sale.
Both local residents and foreign visitors are allowed to taste a variety of Lao cuisines prepared by local and foreign restaurants.
The festival will run for three days until January 27, from 9 am to 8 pm.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Lao Women’s Union, Mrs Inlavanh Keobounphanh.
