(KPL) A delegation from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare called on the 790 Disabled People’s Centre in Xaythany district, Vientiane Capital on March 23 to commemorate the 71st anniversary of National Disabled People and Veterans Day (March 21/1946).
The delegation was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Mr. Khamkeo Sanbonkhounxay, and the Deputy of General Political Department of Army, Mr Vanthong Kongmany, to meet and greet veterans and disabled people.
The acting Head of the 790 Disabled People’s Centre, Mr Oikham Pandathone, gave a briefing on the background of the centre, founded in July in 1990 under the guidance of the Ministry of National Defense to support army employees with disabilities during for the national revolution.
Currently, the 790 Disabled People’s Centre takes care of about 196 people with disabilities, according to the government’s policy on welfare.
Deputy Minister Khamkeo, representing the government, conveyed the Party’s and the government’s warm wishes to the army employees with disabilities and gave a bouquet of flowers, a gift basket and donated money to the centre.
