(KPL) Representatives of six northern provinces met last week in Bokeo Province to discuss the promotion of sustainable tourism links in the northern provinces and between them and neighboring countries.
They discussed and shared information about tourism products and marketing, the development of tourism and investments made in tourism-related services.
The meeting was held in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Ton Pheung district, Bokeo Province, in the presence of Governor of Bokeo Province Khamphan Pheuyavong.
Representatives of Bokeo authorities signed tourism cooperation agreements with relevant authorities of Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Phongsaly, Luang Prabang and Xayaboury, and certain provinces in neighbouring countries including Xishuangbanna of China, Son La and Dien Bien Phu of Vietnam, and Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai of Thailand.
“Bokeo has nine projects currently being developed as main tourist sites of the province, yet 86 out of 99 tourist attractions in the province are yet to be developed,” said Vice Governor of Bokeo Province Khamkeung Euaymanyhak.
“The province has cooperated with domestic and foreign private companies to encourage them to take part in developing tourism services, related infrastructure, guesthouses, hotels and restaurants,” said Mr Khamkuerng.
The province promotes trans-border tourism services by tapping tourism potentials in districts bordering foreign countries to attract domestic and foreign visitors.
