(KPL) Nine secondary school students and one government official on Feb 13th departed from the Wattay International Airport heading to Japan to participate in a study tour under the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths “JENESYS 2016” supported by the Japanese Government.
The group will stay in Japan from Feb 14-21 and take part in a “Peace Building” programme.
The study tour aims to deepen mutual trust and understanding among young people from Japan and ASEAN countries, and to build a basis for friendship and cooperation among the countries.
The nine Lao students were selected as outstanding students in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
These students, together with students from other ASEAN member states, Timor Leste and India, will visit either of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, which were once destroyed by the use of nuclear weapons during the World War II. Others will visit Saga prefecture instead. They will also experience a home stay and a school-exchange programme to deepen their understanding of Japanese society, history and its diverse culture.
