Lao Leaders Extend Condolences on the Passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother
(KPL) President Thongloun Sisoulith has sent a message of deep condolences to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand, following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother (Phra Borommaratchachonnani Phanpi Luang) on October 24, 2025.
In his message, President Thongloun expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing Her Majesty as a person of high virtue, compassion, and great ability who devoted her life to the peace and well-being of the Thai people.
He stated that Her Majesty made significant contributions to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, contributing to their shared development and prosperity.
“The passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother is not only a great loss for the Thai nation, which revered and loved her as a ‘Great Mother,’ but also a loss for the Lao people, who remember her as a close friend and kind benefactor,” President Thongloun wrote.
“On behalf of the Lao people and in my own name, I extend my deepest condolences to His Majesty and all members of the Royal Family, as well as to the entire Thai nation. May the soul of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother rest in peace and attain Sukhakhati,” he concluded.
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also conveyed a message of condolences to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of the Kingdom of Thailand.
Similarly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane sent a message of condolences to Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.
