About Lao

Lao PDR is a landlink country in Southeast Asia. At the heart of the Indochinese Peninsula, It has a total area of 236,800 km. Laos shares borders with Myanmar and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, and Thailand to the west and southwest. Its capital and largest city is Vientiane.

Between 1968 and 1975, foreign tourists travelling the Lao PDR faced difficulties due to infrastructure such as roads, bridges crossing over the Mekong River, national roads, airports and other bus services were not connected, not developed and upgraded considerably.

Later in 1994, the Lao-Thai Friendship Mekong River Bridge Construction Project was completed and officially opened, resulting in the infrastructure development system of the Lao PDR as a starting point linked with ASEAN member countries until now.

In 2023, Lao PDR has at least six friendship bridges, many national roads, Laos-China Railway, international and domestic airports so that it can connect with neighboring countries in the region and worldwide.
