Lao Singer Triumphs at Fourth “Lao Sing Chinese Songs” Competition

KPL - Asean 2024 The grand finale of the fourth “Lao Sing Chinese Songs” competition was held in Vientiane on Friday, drawing an audience of nearly 1,000 people from both Laos and China. The event showcased not only musical talent but also the deepening friendship and cultural ties between the two nations.


In his opening remarks, Wang Chang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, highlighted that the competition represented far more than a stage for artistic performance. “Through music, the two cultures find harmony in mutual appreciation, and our peoples deepen understanding through meaningful exchanges. This event injects new vitality into the enduring China-Laos friendship,” he said.

Mr. Phakhanxay Sikhanxay, Director General of the Heritage Department, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, also emphasized that the contest serves as an important platform for Lao-Chinese cultural exchange, helping to further strengthen traditional ties and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Since its launch in August, the competition has attracted hundreds of Lao enthusiasts of Chinese music. After several rounds of auditions and performances, 12 finalists advanced to the final stage, where 23-year-old Sirisone from Vientiane the top prize with an outstanding performance that captivated both judges and audiences alike.

The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Laos and the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism, underscoring their shared commitment to promoting cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Laos and China.
