(KPL) The delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutinan Prasitphuripricha, President of UBU, together with university administrators, faculty members and staff.

The Lao delegation included Ms. Phimphone Phandanouvong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor of Champasak Province, representatives of provincial departments and organisations, leaders of Phonthong and Khong districts, officials from the Vang Tao International Border Checkpoint, representatives of the Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry, business representatives and technical officials.

During the working session, the two sides exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation following a presentation on UBU’s academic programmes and activities.

Champasak Province expressed interest in expanding cooperation in agriculture, innovation, education and technology, particularly in areas that can support local economic development and improve the value of agricultural products.

Proposed areas include the design and processing of fishery and agricultural products, development of value-added products, environmentally friendly agricultural production and biodiversity conservation. The province also proposed cooperation in developing an agricultural centre on the Bolaven Plateau in Paksong District, greenhouse and open-field cultivation of economic crops, seed development and clean and organic agriculture.

In education, the two sides discussed encouraging more Lao students to study at UBU and organising joint seminars, trade fairs and product exhibitions to promote knowledge exchange and business opportunities.

They also explored joint research on soil, crops, livestock and seed varieties to support agricultural innovation and sustainable production.

Following the discussions, the Champasak delegation visited UBU’s pilot plant to observe its facilities and practical research activities.

The visit provided an opportunity for Champasak Province and UBU to exchange experience and identify practical areas for future cooperation in education, agricultural development, research and technology.
