Emergency Aid Delivered to Hailstorm Victims in Vientiane

A member of the National Assembly of Laos has led efforts to deliver emergency assistance to communities affected by a severe hailstorm in Vientiane.
The handover ceremony took place on 25 March, providing relief to residents in Sikhottabong district following a storm that struck on the evening of 22 March and caused widespread damage.
Provincial Party Secretaries from Oudomxay, Bokeo, Vientiane, Bolikhamxay, Champasack, Savannakhet and Khammouane each contributed 100 million kip in support of the affected communities. The funds were received by Vientiane Mayor Atsaphangthong Siphandone.

During visits to the impacted areas, officials assessed the damage, met with residents, and distributed emergency supplies. The delegation also acted in its capacity under the National Disaster Management framework.
Initial assessments indicate that more than 2,000 households across five villages were affected by the storm.

The hardest-hit areas were Viengkhame and Chansavang villages, each reporting damage to more than 1,000 households. Phonesomboon village recorded over 100 affected households, while Nongda and Tadthong reported more limited damage.
Public infrastructure was also impacted, including four schools, a temple, and a village office.
Authorities say further assessments are ongoing as recovery efforts continue.
