The event was attended by Huaphanh Governor Khampheng Saysompheng, along with provincial officials, civil servants, and residents from various ethnic communities.

The festival aimed to preserve ethnic traditions, promote unity, and commemorate key national historical milestones. Local authorities said the celebration plays an important role in passing cultural heritage on to future generations while strengthening solidarity among ethnic groups.

Tourism promotion was a key focus of the event, with visitors drawn to the district’s cherry blossoms and scenic landscapes. A local market showcased traditional products, handicrafts, and agricultural goods, creating income opportunities for residents and supporting the local economy.

Festival activities included traditional sports such as Mak Lae seed tossing, Mak Khang top spinning, volleyball, and crossbow shooting, as well as folk singing, traditional dances, and performances featuring gongs and drums. Baci (Sou Khuan) blessing ceremonies representing the district’s five main ethnic groups were also held.

Visitors toured major attractions, including the Lao–Japan Friendship Sakura Garden and the historic Viengxay Caves, which served as the revolutionary headquarters during the country’s liberation struggle.

During the event, Governor Khampheng Saysompheng praised local authorities and residents for their achievements and called for continued efforts to maintain political stability, social security, and sustainable development, while preserving Viengxay’s role as a key historical area.
