(KPL) In her remarks at World Women’s Forum in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Wednesday, August 22, Vice President Pany Yathortou highlighted the importance of education in empowering women and girls.

She emphasized that education is a crucial policy and an effective tool for liberating women from poverty and backwardness, promoting gender equality, and ensuring progress in society.

She also reiterated the Lao government’s commitment to international conventions and SDG targets, including those focused on gender equality and sustainable development.

Vice President Pany noted the growing presence of Lao women in political and socio-economic spheres, with an increasing number of women holding leadership positions in both government and private sectors.

Women currently make up 28.4% of the members of the National Assembly of Laos, reflecting the nation’s progress toward gender equality.

The Lao government continues to advance educational reforms, implementing various laws, strategies, and policies to enhance the education system and improve access to education for all citizens.

These efforts are part of the broader national development strategy aimed at achieving a sustainable and green future for Laos.

Conducted under the theme “Moving Toward a Green Future,” the World Women’s Forum was attended by Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, as well as high-ranking female leaders from various countries and representatives from international organizations.

The forum provided a platform for female leaders from across the globe to exchange views on strengthening the role of women, promoting gender equality, and addressing climate change.

The discussions also focused on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the empowerment of women in all sectors.
