The National Social Security Organization (NSSO) held a nationwide training workshop in Vientiane from June 29–30, 2026, to strengthen staff capacity in using and promoting the LSSO App and the online employer contribution payment system as part of efforts to modernize Lao PDR's social security services.
The training, supported by the ILO–China Cooperation Project under the South-South Cooperation framework, brought together NSSO officials from across the country to enhance digital service delivery and improve public access to social security.
Opening the workshop, Bouahom Phommachan, Acting Director General of the NSSO, expressed appreciation to the Government of China and the International Labour Organization (ILO) for their continued support in strengthening Laos' social security system. She said the programme aims to equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively operate and promote the LSSO App and the enterprise online contribution payment system, which is integrated with the payment platform of the Lao-Viet Joint Venture Bank.
The training covered the operation of the LSSO App, updating and correcting contributors' records, resolving data discrepancies, and monitoring payment transactions between the NSSO database and commercial banking systems to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability. Participants also received practical instruction on processing enterprise contribution payments through the online platform and exchanged experiences on improving digital service delivery.
Tian Feng, Head of the ILO–China Project, said digital transformation is essential to building an efficient, accessible and sustainable social security system. He noted that continued improvements to digital platforms and close cooperation among stakeholders would help expand social protection coverage and improve service quality.
Concluding the workshop, NSSO leaders encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained, share best practices with colleagues, and support the nationwide implementation of digital social security services as Laos continues to modernize its social protection system.
