KPL - Asean 2024 The Beijing Demonstration Center of Service for Persons with Disabilities showcased its technology-driven rehabilitation, vocational training and accessibility programs to an international media delegation on Thursday, highlighting China’s efforts to promote inclusion and independent living.

Covering more than 33,000 square meters, the center provides rehabilitation services for children and adults, vocational skills training, assistive technologies and community support programs designed to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities.

Officials from the Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation said innovation and accessibility play a key role in helping individuals participate more fully in society. The facility incorporates barrier-free infrastructure and modern technologies to support mobility and communication.

Employment is another major focus of the center. Through vocational training and rehabilitation programs, people with disabilities have secured jobs in sectors including retail, hospitality and healthcare, while thousands have received skills training in recent years.

The center also highlighted its internationally recognized “Beautiful Workshop” initiative, which promotes artistic creativity and economic empowerment. Participants have contributed handcrafted items for major events, including the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games.

Officials said the center demonstrates how technology, rehabilitation and skills development can work together to expand opportunities and promote greater inclusion for persons with disabilities.
