The agreement marks an important step in connecting the private sector with young people, persons with disabilities, women and girls, LGBTIQ+ communities, and groups who may face barriers to participation and opportunity.
Through the partnership, UNFPA and Amari Vientiane will explore joint initiatives including youth life skills and leadership activities, disability inclusion events, vocational exposure and internships, community-based initiatives, awareness on gender equality and respectful workplaces, and activities linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A key focus will be creating practical opportunities for young people, including young women, young people with disabilities, out-of-school youth and youth from vulnerable or rural backgrounds. Potential activities include exposure visits, job-shadowing, internships, mentoring, career talks and workplace readiness sessions in hospitality, customer service, food and beverage, housekeeping, events management, administration, communications and environmental practices.
The cooperation will also support inclusive and creative spaces that showcase the talents, products, art and contributions of persons with disabilities, young leaders, entrepreneurs and community advocates. In addition, it will include learning and confidence-building activities for women, girls and young people affected by violence, in cooperation with trusted community and service partners.

The partnership will further create opportunities to promote the SDGs among hotel staff, guests and communities through learning sessions on gender equality, youth empowerment, disability inclusion, respectful workplace practices and environmental responsibility. Voluntary donation and awareness campaigns may also be developed to support maternal health, dignity kits, newborn kits, transport support and essential supplies for rural and underserved communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Bakhtiyor Kadyrov, UNFPA Representative in the Lao PDR, said the partnership demonstrates how the private sector can contribute to people-centred development by creating opportunities for young people, persons with disabilities, vulnerable youth, women and girls.
Ms. Sakkara Mahapho, General Manager of Amari Vientiane, said the hotel is proud to partner with UNFPA in support of inclusion, community engagement and sustainable development, while helping young people develop skills and contributing positively to local communities.
The signing of the Cooperation Agreement reflects a growing commitment to private sector engagement for inclusive and sustainable development in the Lao PDR, creating spaces where communities are seen, heard and connected to new opportunities.
