Held under the theme, “The Beauty of Lao Handicrafts: A Paradise for Tourism – 25 Years of Growth, Preserving Traditional Wisdom and Promoting the Value of Lao Handicrafts Towards World Heritage Recognition,” the festival features more than 200 exhibition booths and traditional craft demonstrations by 18 participating groups representing all 17 provinces and Vientiane Capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Lao Handicraft Association Suvita Prasert described the festival as an important annual event for local artisans, noting that its 25th anniversary reflects the steady development of the country's handicraft sector.
The exhibition features a wide range of traditional products, including silk and cotton textiles, silver and gold jewellery, gemstones, rattan and bamboo products, pottery, wood carvings and traditional musical instruments. Local food, herbal products and other cultural items are also on display.
Artisans from Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and Japan are also taking part, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and closer regional cooperation in the handicraft sector.
Visitors can watch and learn about traditional production techniques through live demonstrations of weaving, silk reeling, cotton spinning, silverwork, basket weaving, pottery-making and wood carving.
Beyond promoting and selling local products, the festival provides a platform for artisans to pass traditional skills and knowledge on to younger generations while creating opportunities for local businesses and communities.
The 25th anniversary also highlights the contribution of handicrafts to tourism development, job creation and the promotion of Laos' cultural identity to international audiences.
Through the annual event, the Lao Handicraft Association aims to strengthen public appreciation of traditional craftsmanship and ensure that the skills and knowledge of Lao artisans are preserved for future generations.
