(KPL) Vanxay Phongsavan, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee and State Inspection Authority, welcomed a Vietnamese delegation led by Vo Trong Hai during a courtesy meeting held on April 5, 2026, in Vientiane.
The meeting, held at the Central Inspection Committee’s guest hall, took place as part of the delegation’s official working visit to Laos.
Vanxay Phongsavan extended a warm welcome to his Vietnamese counterpart, emphasizing that the visit would further strengthen the long-standing friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
He highlighted the importance of enhancing ties between the two countries’ inspection bodies, noting that such cooperation plays a key role in supporting governance and delivering benefits to both nations’ citizens.
Both sides reviewed decades of collaboration in inspection work. Since 1995, Laos and Vietnam have actively exchanged experience in Party and State inspection.
Over the years, 50 Lao inspection officials have been sent to Vietnam for training, while the two sides have signed a total of 12 memorandums of understanding—six between their Central Inspection Committees and six between their State Inspection Authorities.
A new cooperation agreement signed in 2026 aims to further expand exchanges, particularly among border provinces.
Updates on Laos’ Political Milestones
Vanxay also briefed the delegation on key political developments in Laos, including the successful conclusion of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the inaugural session of the 10th National Assembly held in late March.
He noted that the first plenary session of the newly elected Party Central Committee appointed seven members to the Central Inspection Committee, including one chairman and six vice chairmen.
Looking ahead, preparations are underway for the 5th Party Committee Congress of the Central Inspection Committee later this month, followed by the 5th National Inspection Work Conference scheduled for June.
The Lao official expressed confidence that the visit would deepen bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.
He concluded by wishing the Vietnamese delegation a successful visit to Laos
