(KPL) Authorities in Savannakhet Province have issued an urgent notice outlining strict guidelines for the upcoming Lao New Year (B.E. 2569 / 2026), calling for celebrations that are culturally meaningful, orderly, and financially responsible.
The directive, released on April 2 by the Provincial Administration Office, emphasizes the importance of preserving Laos’ traditional values while ensuring public security, social order, and environmental cleanliness throughout the holiday period.
Officials said this year’s celebrations will also align with the commemoration of three important historical milestones of the Party, aiming to create a joyful yet disciplined atmosphere across the province.
Under the new guidelines, government agencies and state organizations are instructed to avoid extravagant events or unnecessary spending of public funds. Instead, activities should focus on traditional customs that reflect Lao cultural identity and heritage.
Authorities also stressed that all celebrations must be well-organized, safe, and respectful, with strict attention to maintaining peace and public order.
The notice calls on all sectors and residents to fully comply with the directives to ensure the New Year festivities are both festive and responsible.
