(KPL) On April 1, 2026, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from ASEAN Ambassadors to the Lao PDR, who extended congratulations on his recent appointment.

Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic corps, Edi Irwan bin Mahmud, Ambassador of Malaysia and current coordinator of the ASEAN Consultative Meeting in Vientiane, conveyed the group’s sincere congratulations.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation of ASEAN member states, underscoring the importance of their partnership with Laos.

He also commended the proactive engagement of ASEAN embassies through the ASEAN Consultative Meeting framework, noting their role in promoting greater awareness of ASEAN and enhancing both multilateral cooperation and bilateral relations between Laos and fellow member states
