New Leadership Appointed for Vientiane Province

(KPL) Vientiane Province has appointed new leadership following an official handover ceremony held on December 24, 2025.
The ceremony marked the retirement of Khamphan Sithidampha, who previously served as governor, and the appointment of Phouvong Bounsou as the new chairman of the Provincial Administration Committee.
The event was presided over by Khamphan Phommathat, a member of the Party Central Committee Politburo and chairman of the State Inspection Authority, and was attended by senior provincial officials and retired civil servants.
Speaking at the ceremony, Khamphan Phommathat commended the province’s past achievements and outlined key priorities for the new leadership. These include strengthening unity and political stability, addressing economic challenges to improve living standards for residents and civil servants, and promoting vocational training and job creation.
He also emphasized the importance of developing tourism in a sustainable manner and advancing the use of modern technology in government administration to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Officials said the leadership transition signals a new phase for Vientiane Province, with a focus on stability, modernization, and sustainable development.
