Vientiane Cyclists Off to Strong Start at National Games

Thavone Phomasa clinched the gold medal for the host team, followed by teammate Ananxay Milakong, who earned silver. The bronze medal was won by Aphixath Southavilay of Bokeo Province.
Ten cyclists took part in the event, representing Vientiane and the provinces of Savannakhet, Khammuan, Luang Namtha, Bokeo, and Attapeu.
Vientiane’s cycling contingent consists of four male competitors — Ariya Phounsavath, Thavone Phomasa, Thanakone Vongdeuan, and Ananxay Milakong — as well as one female cyclist, Touta Thammavong.
Cycling events at this year’s Games run from 17 to 20 November, spanning 12 disciplines and offering 12 gold medals. The contests include a 20 km mountain bike race, time trials over 4 km and 50 km, a 120 km road race, and other categories.
Mountain biking events are being held in Sangthong District, while road races are taking place along Road 450 in Vientiane.
