Laos Inaugurates First FIFA Mini Football Field Under Global Arena Project

KPL - Asean 2024 The Lao Football Federation (LFF), in collaboration with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and Vientiane authorities, has officially inaugurated the first FIFA mini football field in Laos under the FIFA Arena Project.

(KPL) The Lao Football Federation (LFF), in collaboration with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and Vientiane authorities, has officially inaugurated the first FIFA mini football field in Laos under the FIFA Arena Project.

The opening ceremony took place at Nakhuay Tai Secondary School, located in Nakhuay Tai Village, Xaysettha District, Vientiane.

The event was attended by Mr. Phouvong Vongkhamsao, Deputy Governor of Vientiane, Ms. Vilayvan Chanthalaty, Chief of Xaysettha District, Mr. Sanjeevan Balasingam, FIFA’s Director of Member Associations – Asia and Oceania and Mr. Viphet Sihachack, President of the Lao Football Federation.

The FIFA Arena Project aims to increase students’ access to grassroots football, promoting long-term development and active engagement in the sport. The initiative is part of FIFA’s global commitment to construct 1,000 mini football fields in schools worldwide, with Laos selected as one of 11 pilot countries.

Under this pilot phase, two mini football fields will be constructed in Laos. The first, inaugurated at Nakhuay Tai Secondary School, represents a significant step forward in national football development. The second will be built at Vernkhen Secondary School in Moonlapamok District, Champasak Province.
