Government’s Monthly Meeting Opens

KPL - Asean 2024 The government’s monthly meeting for January 2025 opened on February 3 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Vientiane. Chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the meeting was attended by deputy prime ministers, cabinet members, representatives of line ministries, relevant agencies, and relevant authorities. Leaders of Vientiane and provincial administrations joined the meeting via teleconference.

(KPL) The government’s monthly meeting for January 2025 opened on February 3 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Vientiane.

Chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the meeting was attended by deputy prime ministers, cabinet members, representatives of line ministries, relevant agencies, and relevant authorities. Leaders of Vientiane and provincial administrations joined the meeting via teleconference.

The agenda includes a review of key activities of the past month and priorities for February. Discussions will also cover preparations for the first meeting between the government and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, as well as amendments to laws set to be submitted to the National Assembly’s second extraordinary session. These include the laws on Local Administration, Civil Servants, and State Budget.

Other key topics include preparations for Laos’ participation in World EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and the determination of administrative boundaries for Vientiane and provinces nationwide. The meeting will also consider a draft strategy on digital governance, along with draft decrees on clean agriculture, carbon credits, national railway rights of way, child adoption, and scientific researchers.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Sonexay highlighted pressing issues such as high living costs, air pollution, and debt clearance, stressing that these challenges require collective efforts from society.
