(KPL) The workshop, held from October 28 to 30 under the Asian Women’s Leadership Program, was officially opened by Phanchinda Lengsavad, Vice President of the NCAWMC, and Amr Qari, ADB’s Head of Country Operations in the Lao PDR. Participants represented the public and private sectors.
Phanchinda said promoting women into leadership and decision-making positions was important not only for gender equality but also for improving governance and supporting national development.
She highlighted women’s contributions to production, business, public services, education, healthcare and community development, adding that greater opportunities for women to apply their knowledge and skills could support economic growth, job creation and reduced social inequality.
Amr Qari said strong women leaders were essential for sustainable development. He reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to helping women build confidence, strengthen leadership skills and expand professional networks so they could contribute more actively to key decisions and drive change.
During the workshop, participants will hear from experts and experienced leaders and take part in practical exercises designed to strengthen communication, public speaking, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. Activities include speaking on camera and role-playing scenarios based on case studies to help participants handle difficult situations and reach mutually beneficial agreements.
