Lao Deputy Health Minister Meets ASSEA Delegation

Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Vannasay Satthakoun met with Jodie Deakes, Chief Executive Officer of the ASSEA organisation, and her delegation in Vientiane on October 26 to discuss a proposed health project being developed jointly with Union Aid Abroad–APHEDA.
(KPL) The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, the University of Health Sciences and relevant health departments and hospitals. Project activities are currently focused on technical discussions while the parties await the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
The Department of Hygiene and Health Promotion also sought ASSEA’s support for a dissemination meeting on the Decree on Health Impact Assessment and findings on the economic impact of banning asbestos imports and use in the Lao PDR.
The meeting is scheduled for October 28 at Don Chan Palace Hotel, chaired by Dr. Vannasay. A further technical meeting to continue project design is planned for October 29.
