The ceremony took place during the Vietnamese premier's official visit to Laos from 8 to 9 October, which is aimed at further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic partnership between the two nations.
The wreath-laying ceremony served to express gratitude and commemorate the immense virtues, achievements, and heroic deeds of the beloved leaders of both countries, who dedicated their lives and intellect to the cause of national liberation, peacebuilding, independence, and the prosperity of Lao and Vietnamese people.
On this occasion, the two prime ministers also planted trees together at the park. The Lao-Vietnam Friendship Park is a project of special significance operating under the direct guidance of the Politburos of the Central Committees of both the Lao and Vietnamese Parties. It holds profound historical and political value, serving as a symbol of the continuous nurturing of ties between the two countries.
The project covers a total area of three hectares and functions as a public park, exercise ground, cultural tourism site, and educational hub for the Lao people—especially the residents of Vientiane—allowing them to visit, study, and engage in activities that promote the fine traditions shared by the two Parties, states, and peoples.
On the same day, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and his delegation also paid a courtesy call on the family of Mr Saysomphone Phomvihane, visited Star Telecom’s headquarters, and the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos to meet with embassy staff and Vietnamese nationals living in the Lao PDR.
